Maria Toro | 1st Grade Self Contained Dual Immersion I was born and raised in Lima – Peru. In 2004, I moved to the U.S. to study for my bachelor’s degree. In 2008, I graduated with honors from The University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign obtaining a B.S. in Elementary Education with an endorsement in Foreign Language – Spanish. This will be my second year teaching at South Shore Elementary. Previously, I taught for 5 years in a Bilingual International School. Erin Monroe | ELD Hi. My name is Erin Monroe. I am delighted to be working at South Shore Elementary School. I was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. I received my Bachelors of Arts in Elementary Education from Western Oregon University, and went on to get my Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University. While in college, I was able to study abroad in Oviedo, Spain for a semester and teach in Guadalajara, Mexico for a semester. I am currently certified in Early Childhood/Elementary Education with a SEI endorsement. Some of my favorite hobbies include yoga, hiking, reading, and swimming.
